Points West Living will add 139 living spaces offering multiple levels of care

RED DEER – Construction is underway on a new designated supportive living facility that will help meet the care needs of local seniors.

Points West Living will add 139 net-new living spaces to the community.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) will be contracting 114 of these spaces for designated supportive living, where seniors get support for their health and personal needs in a home-like environment. The remaining 25 spaces will provide independent living.

The Government of Alberta provided $5.5 million toward construction of the $30-million facility through the Affordable Supportive Living Initiative.

“This new supportive living facility will provide a range of care levels for adults and seniors in a home-like setting,” says Kerry Bales, Chief Zone Officer for AHS Central Zone. “These spaces will offer a mix of living options, including dementia care, to meet the varied health and personal needs of its residents. Now, as needs change, seniors will not have to move to a different facility.”

Points West Living is a leading independent provider of supportive living, long-term care, and retirement residence management and development.

“We are happy to be working together with AHS to bring a new facility to Red Deer that offers a range of care and will accommodate residents in a community-based setting,” says Doug Mills, CEO of Points West Living.

The facility is expected to accept residents starting in early 2016.
