Alberta Health Services announces new CEO

Experienced health care leader to focus on quality care for Albertans; further strengthening of health care delivery

EDMONTON–Alberta Health Services today announced the appointment of a new President and Chief Executive Officer, Vickie Kaminski.

Ms. Kaminski is a Registered Nurse with executive level experience in the Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador health care systems. Most recently, Ms. Kaminski held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer at the Eastern Regional Health Authority in Newfoundland and Labrador, the province’s largest health authority.

She officially takes on the role of AHS CEO on June 2. She will spend time in Alberta prior to her official start date meeting with stakeholders and transitioning into the role.

Ms. Kaminski is a native of Sudbury, Ontario. She is a senior health care executive with more than 35 years of experience in the Canadian health care system. She is a graduate in nursing from Laurentian University and holds an MBA from Northwestern University in Chicago and York University in Toronto. She is a member of the Canadian College of Health Services Executives, is a surveyor with Accreditation Canada, and participates in a number of provincial and national health service related committees. Ms. Kaminski will receive $540,000 in annual salary. She will receive standard management and out of scope health benefits and pension benefits. She has agreed to a three-year term, renewable by mutual agreement.
