EDMONTON - Alberta Health Services provided an update today on the status of the report of the Vendor Bid Appeal Panel that was established following the filing of an appeal on the AHS decision of the preferred proponent for the Edmonton Lab Project.
In October 2014, AHS announced that Sonic Healthcare was the preferred proponent for a contract for the provision of lab services in the Edmonton area. The RFP for the contract was issued in December 2013 and closed April 2014.
There were three companies that submitted compliant proposals: Dynalife, Sonic Healthcare and Quest Diagnostics. Subsequent to the announcement of the preferred proponent, Dynalife appealed the decision. AHS struck a review panel of three individuals and the panel issued its comprehensive report and recommendations on June 9, 2015.
The Edmonton Lab project is significant considering it involves a critical health service and a significant amount of taxpayers’ dollars. As such, AHS needs to be as prudent as possible as it plans for future laboratory services in the Edmonton area.
Given the detailed analysis required on the report and its recommendations, and the need to fully brief the newly-formed Government on the Edmonton Zone Lab, the report will not be released to the vendors and subsequently to the public until sometime in August.
AHS acknowledges there is a lot of interest on the part of the vendors and those who have been involved in the Edmonton lab project and thanks them for their patience at this time.
