Public invited to Alberta Children’s Hospital KidSIM Centre

September 25, 2015

CALGARY – Alberta Health Services (AHS) is inviting members of the public to take a sneak peek inside the KidSIM Centre at Alberta Children’s Hospital, 2888 Shaganappi Trail N.W., during Doors Open YYC on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The KidSIM Centre, located on the hospital’s fourth floor, will provide visitors the opportunity to get an exclusive look at simulated emergency situations and interact with computer-generated mannequins that breathe, speak, and have a pulse.

The simulation centre is designed to mimic situations within various areas of the hospital such as the emergency department and intensive care units, operating rooms, and clinics. The lab plays a vital role in staff training, preparing physicians, nurses and other health care professionals with hands-on experience for critical life-saving scenarios.

Visitors can participate by practising CPR on one of the lifelike mannequins, and observe some of the equipment used in different settings throughout the hospital. MEDi, the hospital’s interactive robot, will also be on-hand.

Visitors to the Alberta Children’s Hospital are encouraged to park in the main parkade.
