New nurse practitioner providing support to community

July 6, 2016

RED EARTH CREEK – Residents now have access to a nurse practitioner who will be providing support to the community of Red Earth Creek.

The nurse practitioner is visiting Red Earth Creek every two weeks and working out of the Red Earth Community Health services office (323 Evergreen Trail) on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Nurse practitioners are educated and trained to provide health promotion and primary care through the diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses and chronic conditions. They are able to assist with everything from pre- or postnatal visits, sexual health and mental health to asthma and diabetes and are also able to prescribe medications, provide specialist referrals and order lab tests. Patients can range in age from newborns to seniors.

The same nurse practitioner will continue to support the residents of Peerless Lake as well.

Most visits need to be booked in advance, but there may be some drop-in times available. For more information or to book an appointment call Tracey at 780-649-2242 or 780-891-3931.
