Boyle Healthcare Centre Emergency Department reopens

March 3, 2017

BOYLE – The Emergency Department at the Boyle Healthcare Centre reopened at 3 p.m. today (Friday, March 3).

A water main leak beneath the Boyle Healthcare Centre earlier this week prompted AHS to temporarily close the facility in order to ensure the safety and comfort of patients.

Water has been restored to the facility through a temporary, above ground water line. A boil water advisory remains in place for the healthcare centre until system flushing and testing can be completed. Bottled drinking water is available and will continue to be used at the facility, along with alcohol-based hand hygiene practices.

The healthcare centre will remain closed for admissions and inpatient services until further notice. Patients requiring admission will be transferred to nearby facilities, including the Athabasca Health Centre.

In order to reduce the pressure on the Emergency Department, any patients requiring non-urgent healthcare services are asked to first contact their family physician or call Health Link (811). If you require immediate, urgent healthcare, please call 911.

AHS and the Village of Boyle continue to work diligently on repairs to the water main leak.

Thank you for your patience during this temporary closure. We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
