Temporary lab collections site opens April 3

March 24, 2017

BROOKS – Alberta Health Services (AHS) is opening a temporary community collections site next month as part of the expansion of lab services in southeast Alberta.

The temporary lab collection site will open Monday, April 3 in the former long-term care wing of the Brooks Health Centre. The Newell Clinic will remain open for lab collections until end-of-day on March 30, after which patients are asked to start using the temporary site, which will be open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

AHS had planned to open the new Brooks community lab collections site at 500 Cassils Rd. E. by the end of this month. Due to unforeseen construction delays, the new location will not be completed until mid-June, necessitating the opening of the temporary site.

AHS apologizes for the delay.

Parking at the temporary lab site has been reserved for lab patients on the south end of the Brooks Health Centre, along 4 Ave. Signage at the health centre will direct patients to the correct entrance to access the lab collections area.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
