Rehabilitation Services moving to new location

September 19, 2017

SYLVAN LAKE – Community Rehabilitation Services will be moving to Cobbs Block Central (108 5015 50th Street) in order to make space for Advanced Ambulatory Care Service (AACS) in Sylvan Lake.

The purpose of AACS is to diagnose and treat urgent, but non-life-threatening conditions. These include sudden illness or injury that normally could be cared for in a doctor’s office but require immediate attention. X-ray and laboratory services will be available.

"Moving this service to downtown Sylvan Lake opens the way for necessary renovations to begin on the new Advanced Ambulatory Care Service located in the Community Health Centre,” says Susan Samson, Chair of the Urgent Care Committee, Sylvan Lake and Area. “Our goal is in sight to bring enhanced medical services to Sylvan Lake and Area, seven days a week.”

Community Rehabilitation Services is expected to move to its new location in early 2018 following renovations to the new space. Advanced Ambulatory Care Service is expected to be offered at the Sylvan Lake Community Health Centre next spring.

“We are very excited to have reached this important milestone,” says Andrea Thain Liptak, Executive Director, Community Based Services for AHS Central Zone. “Thanks to the hard work and collaboration of multiple stakeholders throughout the summer months, we remain on target to meet the goal of implementing Advanced Ambulatory Care service in Sylvan Lake in spring 2018.”

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
