Play to spark community conversations about reconciliation

February 9, 2018

EDMONTON – Alberta Health Services is proud to support the Theatre for Living production, šxʷʔam̓ət (home).

šxʷʔam̓ət  is a hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (a Coast Salish dialect) word used to refer to home. The production weaves together stories based on real stories and challenges and focuses on the issues all Canadians face as we move towards reconciliation; it compels audiences to think about reconciliation not as a “thing of the past”, but something that is relevant now.

Created and performed by a mixed Indigenous and non-Indigenous cast and production team, šxʷʔam̓ət (home) invites audiences to try to offer solutions to the real-life problems being presented on the stage.

The production is sponsored by the University of Alberta, and will be held Sunday, February 11 and Tuesday, February 13 at 7 p.m., at Boyle St Plaza, 9538 – 103 A Ave., Edmonton. Tickets can be purchased by calling 780-492-0445, and will also be available at the door. They can also be purchased online.

šxʷʔam̓ət (home) is also being performed in Medicine Hat on February 16 and Calgary on February 17 and February 18.
