Alberta Health Services reaches agreement with Health Sciences Association of Alberta

EDMONTON – Alberta Health Services (AHS) has ratified a three-year collective agreement with Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA).

The three-year agreement expires on March 31, 2020 and sets out terms and conditions for the diverse group of approximately 19,000 AHS employees who work in areas such as pharmacy, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation services (physical, occupational, recreational therapists), social work and emergency medical services (EMS).

“We are pleased to have reached an agreement that recognizes the important role this diverse group of health professionals play in providing quality healthcare for Albertans,” said Dr. Verna Yiu, AHS President and Chief Executive Officer.

The agreement includes a salary freeze for two years with a requirement to negotiate wages in the third year. It also includes minor updates to employee benefits, and additional scheduling flexibility.
