Queen Elizabeth II outpatient lab hours changing April 30

Schedule adjustment to provide more staffing during busiest times

GRANDE PRAIRIE – Outpatient laboratory hours at the Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Regional Hospital will be changing starting April 30.

The QEII outpatient laboratory will be closing one hour earlier weekdays, with new operating hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Statistics show few patients require the service between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and, by eliminating that hour, staffing can be adjusted to provide additional support during busier times.

Weekend hours at the QEII outpatient laboratory will remain the same, with the lab open on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The lab offers a comprehensive range of routine and specialized lab testing including blood and body fluid sample collection, biochemistry and toxicology, as well as urinalysis, and hematology.
