Four-day temporary closure of Health Centre heliport

April 24, 2019

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE — The heliport at Rocky Mountain House Health Centre will be temporarily closed from Monday, April 29 at 8 a.m. to Thursday, May 2 at 3 p.m.

The temporary closure of the helipad is necessary as the hallway that connects the helipad to the hospital must be closed while a scheduled Wi-Fi upgrade takes place. This hallway provides the helipad’s only access to Acute Care when a patient is being transferred.

Alberta Health Services is committed to ensuring timely access to quality, patient-centred healthcare at Rocky Mountain House Health Centre.

From Monday through Thursday, STARS helicopters will land at the Rocky Mountain House airport. Ground ambulances stationed at the hospital will be used to transport patients to the airport when necessary. This practice has safely been used in Rocky Mountain House before, and is a safe and common practice in other communities across the province.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
