Renovation work to begin at new Home Care location

October 10, 2019

Larger treatment space and greater accessibility among highlights

WESTASKIWIN – Construction crews will begin remodeling two adjoining spaces within the Wetaskiwin Mall beginning October 21, 2019 in preparation of welcoming Home Care Services to the location in early 2020.

This new location – selected as the most suitable option after an extensive search in 2018 – will provide over 5,400 square feet of office space for the home care program, doubling available treatment spaces and offering expanded, more accessible waiting areas and office space.

The location also offers substantial parking options and barrier free access for clients.

Home Care is currently located at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre, and the need to find a larger site was identified as a top priority for Central Zone leadership in order to support clients, staff and growth of the services provided. The renovation and relocation is being funded through Alberta Health Services’ Enhanced Community Care (ECC) funding.

Renovations are anticipated to be complete by early 2020. Advance notice will be provided to the Community and Home Care patients once an official moving date is determined.

Home Care provides publicly funded personal and healthcare services to approximately 600 clients in the Westaskiwin area. Services include personal care such as bathing, dressing personal hygiene, and professional care/healthcare services that are preventive, curative or rehabilitation.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
