Temporary hours for Daysland ED begin next week

February 4, 2022

Emergency department expects to resume usual hours of operation February 17

DAYSLAND – The Daysland Health Centre Emergency Department (ED) will be temporarily implementing reduced hours, beginning February 7.

The ED will continue to be open seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

AHS is working to ensure local residents continue to have access to the care they need. ED services required outside of these hours can be accessed at St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose (42 km away), or the Killam Health Care Centre (31 km away).

Patients requiring emergency medical care during this time are asked to call 911. Ambulance transfers will be rerouted to surrounding facilities, including Camrose and Killam.

Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7, for non-emergency, health-related questions.

Additionally, the number of acute care and rehabilitation beds at the health centre will be temporarily reduced due to a temporary shortage of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).

Patient care will not be affected as the site has sufficient capacity at this time and there is space for additional patients as needed. Ten of our acute care bed spaces and seven rehabilitation beds remain open

AHS is grateful for the support of surrounding healthcare centres and medical staff, and would like to thank the community for its patience and understanding during this time.
