Valleyview Emergency Department re-opens

May 18, 2023

VALLEYVIEW – The emergency department at the Valleyview Health Centre will re-open today, May 18, at 8 p.m.

Patient safety and care remain our top priorities and we are working hard to ensure the community has urgent care available.

No additional services at the Valleyview Health Centre are re-opening at this time. Inpatient admissions remain temporarily paused. EMS continues to be available to the community and will transport patients to alternate facilities as needed.

The Valleyview Health Centre was temporarily evacuated and closed due to threat of local wildfires on Monday, May 15.

AHS has been reaching out to families and loved ones of the evacuated patients and continuing care residents with information. If you have not been contacted, please reach out to Health Link at 8-1-1 (patients) or Continuing Care Access at 1-855-371-4122 (continuing care residents/families).

All appointments with laboratory services, diagnostic imaging, mental health and public health in Valleyview are postponed at this time. Clients will be contacted directly by AHS to be rescheduled as soon as possible. Home care clients impacted by the evacuation have been contacted to arrange for alternative home visits and support from nursing teams.

We are extremely grateful for our frontline teams, staff and physicians who have come together to support the wildfire response across AHS.
