Pediatric Psychology

Alberta Children's Hospital

Our Role

Psychology and Psychologists are actively involved in all aspects of the health care for children and adolescents throughout the hospital and affiliated programs. Psychologist are members of multidisciplinary teams where they provide assessment, treatment and consultation to children and youth, parents, and other health care professionals both within the hospital and in the community.

Psychologists are affiliated with a variety of clinics and programs within the areas of child clinical and pediatric psychology. The major areas include the medical clinics, developmental clinics and program, mental health clinics and programs and the child abuse service.

Parents who want access to any of the psychological services provided through these various clinics and programs will need to contact their family physician and/or their treatment team to request a referral to the psychologist assigned to the clinic or program. The exception is the Child Abuse Service which does not need a physician referral and any individual or family member can contact the Child Abuse Service directly to get assistance.
