Highlights
- The Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital will remain open until healthcare services transition to the new Mountview Health Complex. It will take several years to build and is expected to open in 2028.
- Fall 2024 Update: AHS committed to reviewing the clinical service model that was presented to the Beaverlodge Community (in June 2024) alongside utilization data of the community for services. This work has been ongoing including engagement with community stakeholders and local physicians. AHS has met with, and will continue to meet with, physicians, staff, and community members to share information and discuss concerns.
Service Changes
- The current 18 inpatient beds will be increased to 32 inpatient beds
- The current 24/7 Emergency Department will transition to a 16/7 Advanced Ambulatory Care Centre (AACC) – under review
Services Remaining the Same
- 24/7 EMS
- Diagnostic Imaging & Laboratory Services
- Community Health Services & Outpatient Clinics
Can These Services Change in the Future?
If there is significant population growth and/or the community’s health needs shift, AHS can shift the services, or hours of services, available at the new facility.
The infrastructure will not limit the ability to offer expanded or new services.
With a regional model in mind, services between Beaverlodge and Grande Prairie will be complementary, not duplicative.
