Learning Essential Approaches to Palliative and End-of-Life Care
Funded by Alberta Health Continuing Care Branch, the Palliative and End-of-Life Care (PEOLC) portfolios and the Provincial PEOLC team within AHS are excited to partner with Pallium Canada to deliver Online LEAP training to health care providers and health care aids at no cost to the learners across the province until March 31, 2024.
Pallium’s award-winning LEAP courses are considered the gold standard for PEOLC education for health care organizations and professionals in Canada. LEAP courses provide health care providers with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills to help provide palliative care to patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses.

Methadone for Pain in Palliative Care Course
This course is for doctors wishing to improve their knowledge and develop core competencies in methadone prescribing for pain management in palliative care.
Mainpro-M1 credit and Royal College CME credit (Section 1) accredited educational program by the Royal College
NOTE: This course is for learning purposes only. Physicians are required to obtain a methadone license from Health Canada prior to prescribing methadone.
Pain & Symptom Workshop - Edmonton Zone
This one-day workshop in the Edmonton Zone focuses on the care of the palliative patient. It includes case studies. The topics presented include: pain, dyspnea, GI complications, depression/anxiety/wellbeing, communication, delirium/palliative sedation and end-of-life care. The topics are presented with a focus on nursing environments in community and acute care practice.
