CASES

Centre for Advancement of Surgical Education and Simulation

CASES allows surgical trainees and practicing professionals the opportunity to acquire, practice and develop their skills in a safe learning environment.

Centre for Advancement of Surgical Education and Simulation (CASES) allows surgical trainees and practicing professionals the opportunity to acquire, practice and develop their skills in a safe learning environment.

Simulation training in medical education is fundamental to producing proficient and confident healthcare professionals and subsequently enhancing patient care and safety. Simulation learning offers many advantages such as access to unique customizable experiences, freedom to learn and cause no harm, and the provision of detailed feedback and evaluation.

CASES enables Alberta Health Services and our academic partners to become leaders in simulation-based medical education.

CAMIS (Centre for Advancement of Minimally Invasive Surgery) helped to lay the foundation for CASES and provide the framework to expanding simulation training to a comprehensive range of surgical specialties and clinicians.
