Increased availability for walk in pediatric immunization

March 2, 2022

Alberta Health Services (AHS) will temporarily open COVID-19 pediatric immunization walk-in appointment times to provide additional opportunities for families with children aged five to 11 who they wish to be vaccinated against COVID-19

COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and a critical way to limit the spread of COVID-19 and protect against severe illness and hospitalization.

From March 2 to 16, several AHS vaccination clinics will accommodate pediatric walk-ins and appointments. To find an AHS clinic with extended hours and walk-in appointments, visit: ahs.ca/vaccine.

Pharmacies with extended hours and experience vaccinating children will also administer pediatric vaccine to children. To find a pharmacy offering COVID-19 vaccinations for children, visit ab.bluecross.ca.

Parents and guardians can continue to book appointments for children age five and older online by using the Alberta vaccine booking system or by calling 811.

Parents or guardians are asked to bring their child’s Alberta Health Care card if they have one as well as identification that proves the child’s age. Both parents and children age two and older will be required to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer when visiting the site for your immunization.

If a parent or guardian cannot be in attendance for the appointment and the child is under 18 years of age, a consent form can be signed and provided.

If you are experiencing symptoms, stay home and arrange for COVID-19 testing through AHS.ca or by calling 811.
