Hours added for youth addiction, mental health services

GRANDE PRAIRIE — Alberta Health Services (AHS) is now providing extended hours for addiction and mental health support for children and youth in Grande Prairie and area.

Children, youth, and their families can access walk-in addiction and mental health services in addition to booked appointments Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Child and Youth Addiction and Mental Health office on the fourth Floor of Nordic Court, 10014 99 St.

Previously, regular hours were weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with walk-in hours from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Addiction and mental health services for children and youth in Grande Prairie and area can be accessed by calling the Access Addiction and Mental Health Line at 1-888-594-0211 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Sessions can be conducted in-person, by Zoom, or by phone.

The Grande Prairie office also offers evening group therapy options for those seeking help outside of regular office hours. For more information on these options, please call the office at 780-538-5162.

As always, there are supports available 24/7 across Alberta through the Mental Health Helpline at 1-877-303-2642 and the Addiction Helpline at 1-866-332-2322. There are also several resources available at ahs.ca/helpintoughtimes. Crisis services are available through the local emergency department or by calling 911.
