COVID-19 testing and immunization site closing in Vegreville

July 22, 2021

Testing and immunization remains available in other locations for residents

VEGREVILLE — Due to a decrease in demand, Alberta Health Services (AHS) will be closing the local COVID-19 testing and immunization site on Friday, July 30.

Permanent testing sites remain in Red Deer, Camrose, Edmonton and Lloydminster. Public Health continues to offer testing, and home-based testing remains available for exceptional circumstances where clients are unable to travel to one of the testing sites.

COVID-19 vaccination continues across the province, open to all Albertans aged 12 and older. Booking and walk-in information can be found online at ahs.ca/vaccine. Participating pharmacies are also offering first and second doses by appointment.

The Vegreville testing and immunization site opened in November 2020 to support increased access to COVID-19 testing within Central Alberta. Since that time, COVID-19 testing has decreased significantly, as has the demand for COVID-19 immunization. COVID-19 case numbers continue to be significantly lower throughout the province.

Individuals with symptoms of COVID-19 are advised to self-isolate immediately, and go online to book a testing appointment at ahs.ca/covid . People without Internet access can call 811 and HealthLink staff will book a test appointment.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
