In June 2023, the DON Scientific Office hosted a diabetes day.  The event brought together patients, researchers, clinicians, and decision-makers from the diabetes community together. The focus for the day was:

1. Foster a collaborative research-practice environment in diabetes care to learn from each other.
2. Illuminate current data, gaps, and opportunities to support alignment of research and practice.
3. Highlight current diabetes research and practice to advance diabetes care.
4. Explore opportunities for future research, practice priorities, and collaboration

• Alignment of patient-centeredness definitions with real-life patient and clinician experiences: A qualitative study.
• Strategies for intraoperative glucose management: a scoping review.

2023

SEED Grant Awards

This DON SCN will make available two Seed Grant awards to support researchers in the development of large funding proposals in diabetes, obesity & nutrition-related research. For this competition, the overarching goal of the seed grant is to support research that has the potential to:

1. improve diabetes, obesity & nutrition-related care outcomes across the health system;
2. promote quality and sustainability of health care for patients and their families; and
3. prevent diabetes, obesity & nutrition-related health problems.

• DISER (Diabetes Infrastructure for Surveillance, Evaluation and Research)
  Database, interactive dashboard and data visualization resource on diabetes in Alberta.
