About Connect Care

Through a common provincial clinical information system (CIS), Connect Care enables consistent practices across Alberta and improves the care we provide for patients and their families.

When the whole healthcare team, including patients, has the best possible information throughout a person’s care journey, healthcare is improved for both patients and healthcare providers.

Connect Care allows prescribers to conveniently access clinical records and tools anywhere, anytime. This includes things like schedules, patient panels, team communications, order co-signs, clinical images and minor procedure documentation.

The CIS brings together everything a clinician needs to get work done, including decision support, communication, dictation, image management, and tools for quality improvement, research and teaching resources. Prescribers can also personalize elements of the system, aligning their ways of working with a common process or goal.

Where is Connect Care Available?

Connect Care is in place across provincial health agencies and corporations, including Acute Care Alberta, Alberta Health Services, Assisted Living Alberta, Primary Care Alberta, and Recovery Alberta. Connect Care is available at sites such as hospitals, continuing care, Cancer Care Alberta centres, Addiction & Mental Health facilities, Carewest sites, CapitalCare sites, Covenant Health sites, Alberta Precision Laboratories locations, Lamont Health Care Centre, emergency health services, and many other clinics, community health sites, and practices.

Do I Need Connect Care Training?

All individuals who will be using the Connect Care system will require training aligned with their specific role. If you access the system, you will need training.

For more information on training, view Training & Access (network login is required) or the Training for Physicians FAQ.
