cancer patient navigator

Cancer Patient Navigators (CPNs) are registered nurses who have specialized training in cancer care. They help guide patients through the complex maze of cancer tests, appointments, treatments and emotions.

CPNs are available to:

  • Provide accurate information for patients so they can make informed decisions
  • Help patients prepare for tests, treatments and medical visits by explaining test results, treatment choices and what to expect.
  • Improve coordination of care by working with other healthcare professionals
  • Support patients in accessing financial resources and community support
  • Refer patients to other resources or services as needed

At Arthur Child, navigation support will be available for Indigenous, adolescents and young adults. These services are free and confidential. You or your healthcare team can make a referral, at any point from diagnosis to after treatment.

Indigenous Cancer Patient Navigators

Indigenous Cancer Patient Navigators work with, and support First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people impacted by cancer. They can help with navigating the healthcare system and answering questions, providing support and connection to resources and services, and advocating to have questions and concerns addressed.
