Patients may have two visitors at a time; there are no scheduled visiting hours.
To access the unit, families and visitors are required to call the front desk by pressing the buzzer located outside the unit and identifying themselves and the patient they would like to see.
Hand washing is required upon entry and exit of the unit.
The unit is a scent-free/flower-free zone. Please refrain from using or wearing scented products in consideration of patients, families, physicians, volunteers and other workers.
Anyone with a fever, cough, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea, or a communicable disease, such as chickenpox, should avoid visiting the unit.
There is a cost for parking. Refer to the parking map for rates and parking information.
The CICU is located on the 1st floor of the Robbins Pavilion at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
Enter the main doors of the Robbins Pavilion on the ground level and take the elevators or stairs to the 1st floor. Turn right and go to the end of the hallway. Turn left and continue down the hallway. The CICU entrance will be on your left-hand side. Look for the panda mural.
During your stay, CICU multidisciplinary health care team will begin working with you and your loved one as soon as they arrive on the unit. You will be introduced to your loved one’s care providers and receive an orientation to the unit and our general routines.
The multidisciplinary CICU team, including cardiologists, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, dieticians and other allied health professionals, works collaboratively to provide excellent, high quality patient- and family-centered care.
Having a family member in the CICU can be an overwhelming experience for patients and families. We welcome all of your questions and concerns, and there are a variety of support resources available to meet you and your loved one’s needs. We encourage you to speak to a member of your health care team or a social worker.
