The aim of the Forzani MacPhail Colon Cancer Screening Centre (the CCSC) is to reduce the incidence of and the risk of dying from colon cancer, a devastating disease that results in the death of approximately 9,000 Canadians every year.
This commitment to expanded screening capacity in the Calgary zone underlines what we now know about this disease - it can be effectively prevented and treated when it is detected through screening in its earliest stages.
The CCSC is the only publicly funded facility dedicated to colon cancer screening in Canada.
The CCSC was developed to support the colon cancer screening needs of the residents of Calgary and surrounding areas.
