Located in the Teaching, Research and Wellness Building at the Foothills Medical Centre, CCSC occupies 23,000 square feet and features six endoscopy rooms, three reprocessing rooms, 24 recovery beds, six nurse-clinician pre-assessment rooms, a theatre for public and professional educational activities and research facilities. As a state of the art, non-hospital facility, CCSC is the first of its kind in Canada.
The doctors, nurses, reprocessing technicians and administrative staff of the CCSC are dedicated to providing high quality colon cancer screening services. As of June 2013, the CCSC was staffed by 28 full or part-time nurses, 6 licensed practical nurses, 6 scope preprocessors, 20 clerks and 2 nursing assistants. The CCSC staff are a close-knit and supportive group of individuals working together to provide patient-centered care. The CCSC’s annual patient experience questionnaires always document how appreciative patients are of the care that they receive from all members of the team. The CCSC has onsite nurse educators, biweekly staff meetings and regular educational days to support the ongoing education of all staff. A social committee organizes regular outside social activities .
