The following information will help you to learn more about your conditions of employment and the tasks you must complete before your first day and in your first week. The New Employee Checklist summarizes the information you need to know and tasks you must complete in a printable form.

Offer Letter

Here’s what you need to know to accept your offer letter:

  1. Read your employee groups’ Collective Agreement or Terms & Conditions of Employment.
  2. Review your benefits and pension package for details about eligibility and a summary of coverage options for your employee group.

    2. Local Authorities Pension Plan
    3. Group Savings Plan
  3. Familiarize yourself with the Communicable Disease Assessment Policy and Assessment.
  4. Learn more about vacation accrual and observed holidays.
  5. (North Zone employees) Learn about the allowances that may be available to you if your work site(s) fall within specific geographic areas in Northern Alberta.

Unionized employees should also review for applicability:

  1. You may be entitled to additional compensation in recognition of your previous work experience and education.

To accept your offer of employment, click the link in your offer letter. Alternatively, you can visit AHS Careers and follow the navigation steps listed in the Onboarding Process guide.  

Once you have accepted your offer letter, the pre-hire process launches automatically.


Pre-Hire Tasks

You will receive an email notification with a link to complete your first task in the pre-hire process. These required tasks must be submitted through your job profile and be approved to confirm your start date. Please be aware of due dates for each task. 

  1. On the tasks tab, navigate to the Personal Information Form; review and complete all required fields.
  2. If you are a regulated health professional you must submit proof of your current licence, certification or professional membership.
  3. Complete your Criminal Record Check and submit all security screening documents. 
  4. If listed in your offer letter, you must submit a copy of your Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider Level (BLS – HCP)

Your hiring manager will receive a notice once your pre-hire documents have been approved. After approval, your leader will receive your employee ID and network credentials within 5 days.


Tasks Before You Start

Here are the tasks you must complete before your first day. 

To access your employee ID, login to your job profile and navigate to your employee profile. If you need more support, please speak with your hiring manager. 

  1. Submit your completed federal and provincial taxation information forms.
  2. Submit your completed Communicable Disease Form along with any available immunization records. 
  3. Request your ID Badge and Access Card.
  4. To access staff parking privileges, submit your parking application form.
  5. If listed in your offer letter, you must complete our AHS orientation and provide the certificate of completion to your manager.

Be sure to mark these tasks off as completed on your job profile


First Day

Congratulations on your first day! The following tasks require your employee ID and network access information. Speak with your hiring manager to receive this information. 

  1. Speak with your manager to gain access to your network username, temporary password and email.
  2. Upload your direct deposit information through Employee Self Service on e-People. 
  3. All staff must also complete and submit enrolment forms for LAPP and Group Savings Plan.
    1. Unionized employees can review your benefit enrollment options and complete enrollment through Employee Self-Service on e-People. 
    2. Non-union employees will receive a benefits enrollment email from Blue Cross. 
  4. Submit completed forms to receive recognition for your previous experience and education

Week 1

  1. Review our Code of Conduct and complete our mandatory privacy and security training course module Required Organizational Learning: InfoCare – On Our Best Behaviours on MyLearningLink.
